Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a condition characterized by aching muscles and joints, anxiety, depression, difficulty concentrating, fever, headaches, intestinal problems, irritability, muscle spasms, recurrent infections, sensitivity to heat and light, sleep disturbances, sore throat, swollen glands, memory problems, and debilitating fatigue among other symptoms.

The symptoms resemble those of viral infections, so the condition is often misdiagnosed.  Routine medical tests do not detect any problems.  More women than men are afflicted by this condition.

Many people who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome also have the Epstein-Barr virus.  However, no connection between the two has been proven.  Many people with chronic fatigue syndrome also have fibromyalgia, which causes muscle weakness and fatigue.
